It’s so embarrassing to get basic facts wrong and have it recorded for posterity. But here I making reference to the wrong writer who inspired the title of the Festival that year. This interview with Pauline Fan and myself, as co-directors of the George Town Literary Festival 2019, captures the enthusiasm I felt for working in new and challenging ways about conversations. Organised, not in a linear fashion, as I had come to be habituated to while working in radio, but spatially. I had been to the Dhaka Lit Fest that same year and spent a week the Jaipur Lit Fest in January 2020, before the Covid-19 pandemic put the very premise of literary festivals – a community of writers and readers, and the autograph hunters – in jeopardy.
