I was in Manila and Davao City in the south for a meeting involving organisers of the APCET 2 conference, and I weaved the encounters during my trip into an account of The Philippines a decade or so after the EDSA Revolution (February 1986) into an article. I did take side trips – eg to interview Sheila Coronel, then heading the Philipine Center For Investigative Journalism – because, as it has often happen I decide that I might write about the country I am visiting for a holiday. It is also true that by presenting myself as a journalist working on a story, people were willing to spend time with me. In this instance I did actually produce two articles. The accompanying one an interview with Joel Rocamora.
